Tara, the Residents' Voice...

Dear Sunnyvale Residents,

It is my honor to run for Sunnyvale City Council Seat #7 which is currently held by Mayor Melinda Hamilton.  I am humbled by Mayor Hamilton's support and endorsement of my candidacy to become her successor as she fulfills her term on the Sunnyvale City Council.   With the support and encouragement from friends, residents, community and business leaders, I will bring the Residents' Voice to the Sunnyvale City Council.

Having taken an active role in the San Miguel Neighbors Association for the past decade, I am a firm believer in building a sense of community spirit and pride, strength and vitality from the ground up.  Each and everyone of us is a key piece of the foundation in the intricate design and plan for a vibrant Sunnyvale.

My candidacy first and foremost is to truly be the residents' voice on the decisions being made on and for the future of Sunnyvale.  In addition, these are the issues that matter to me and affect us all:

  • Balanced budgets, both long and short term, to be able to deliver or receive necessary                                       services and infrastructure maintenance including our parks and library
  • Get our downtown up and running
  • Safety and Security of our homes, schools, businesses, and city
  • Clean air and water, waste reduction, sustainable energy for  all our needs
  • Balance between residential and commercial concerns

I have lived in Sunnyvale for more than 30 years because I love it!  Sunnyvale has had a continuously low crime rate, innovative programs, creative collaborations and partnerships.  As a homeowner who values the services provided by our city and as an active member of Sunnyvale neighborhoods  interested in vibrant communities, I look forward to meeting many of you in this campaign.  Our issues matter, we matter, together we can make a difference.  I ask you for your support and for your vote on Tuesday, November 8, 2011.

Thank you, Tara Martin-Milius
